Last week several of my friends posted adorable pictures of their kids staring out windows waiting for snow. And I have to sheepishly admit, on Tuesday night I was so excited I looked very similar with my nose pressed against the glass, waiting….
Unfortunately, I’m sad to report that we didn’t get any snow here. We did get a lot of ice, and for about ten minutes a few big fluffy flakes came down, but Charleston was pretty much a bust on the snow front. My sister in upstate SC got enough to have a snowball fight with her dog, and my brother in the SC midlands got a really nice amount (pictures below), but we only had ice to crunch in here on the coast, so I was pretty bummed. And because of the ice, our area was still shut down for several days, which just makes it worse: if I’m going to be trapped in the house, I want some freakin’ snow to cavort in!
The really crazy part is that yesterday, less than a week after the icepocalypse, it was 76 degrees. I was wearing short sleeves. South Carolina weather be crazy!
You’ll notice the weather was definitely on my mind is some of this week’s 15 Minute Tweet Tales:
1/29 – She gives him a Cook's tour of the school, then points him to his class. As hostile kids stare, he reconsiders his noble career choice.
1/30 – At the party she grabs a red cup, hoping the elixir will help her talk to boys. Instead the contents cast a spell that ruins her life.
1/31 – Excited to gambol in snow for the first time in years, I instead woke to sheets of ice. Been stuck inside for three days. So sad. #truestory
2/1 – Flipping through pictures of her heyday, regret squeezes her heart. But her grandkids' adoring faces remind her she made the right choice.
2/2 – Due to the polar vortex, Atlanta lost most its stiction, but the southern custom of strangers helping strangers brought warmth to city.
2/3 – Two ladies gam in the restaurant's lobby while waiting for their husbands, not knowing it's the same man, who screwed up his schedule.
2/4 – He feels lymphatic but has only had one drink. He sees the bartender's lips twist into a cruel smile and regrets flashing his winnings.
