Tweet Tales Tuesday Week 102
December 31, 2013
15 Minute Tweet TalesI still can’t believe it’s the last day of 2013. Even harder to believe is that I have now written a tweet tale every day for two years. It’s been a wonderful creative exercise and has really helped me with tightening my writing in general. And it’s so much fun meeting fabulous folks on twitter and reading their takes on the crazy words.

And this year has had a lot of CRAZY words. When I flipped through the Rare Words book at the beginning of the year, I knew it was going to be a wild word ride, and the book of ‘Arcane but Useful Words for Language Lovers’ did not disappoint. I thought I had a pretty decent vocabulary, but most days the words were completely new to me. I’m a bit sad to have reached the end of the book, but how fitting that the word on New Year’s Eve is desinence, which means ending.

And now for the last time this year, here are my 15 Minute Tweet Tales:

12/25 – The blizzard is an obscurant as the kids watch for Santa. Hours pass, they lose faith, then a blur of red materializes from the white.

12/26 – Kim cries before the plastic surgery on her 16th birthday: boy or girl, the Procrustean law proclaims everyone must look like the King.

12/27 – I'm grateful for the gibbous moon – enough light to see by, but it won't trigger the change. For this mission I need opposable thumbs.

12/28 – Hylic concerns keep her from seeing her son's hurt. She tries to fill the hole in his belly, he needs her to fill the hole in his heart.

12/29 – He saw the claudicant dog and wanted to help, but he chased it away from the dumpster. He needed to find enough dinner for his family.

12/30 – Cindy loved Ty but his daughter was an unmanageable brat. She couldn't deal with novercal angst so tearfully said no when he proposed.

12/31 – She's dreamed of kissing Tim at midnight, but the ball dropping is the desinence of both the year and her crush due to his slobbery lips.

I hope everyone has a fun and exciting (yet safe) New Year’s Eve, and here’s to a happy and healthy 2014 in which we all see some of our dreams come true!

Play along and write tweet tales for the above words. If you’re willing to share, post them on twitter with the hashtag #15tt or add them below in the comments because I’d love to read them. Any thoughts about this week's tweet tales or #15tt words?
